Isle of Anglesey Weekender
Anglesey, or Ynys Môn in Welsh is known as the ‘mother of Wales’. It is connected to the mainland by the Menai Suspension Bridge and the Britannia Rail Bridge, spanning the fast running, spectacular Menai Straits.
From the minute you cross the water on either of the of the bridges you are surrounded by amazing landscapes, not only on the island but across the Straits to the snow-topped mountain range of Snowdonia.
Itinerary incudes:
- The medieval town of Beaumaris, with the 13th-century Beaumaris Castle which has concentric fortifications and a moat. Beaumaris Gaol with its Victorian punishment cells and an original tread wheel!
- Historic South Stack Lighthouse which is located on a small island reached via a descent of 400 steps down the steep mainland cliffs. As well as the stunning views, there are also thousands of nesting seabirds including guillemots, razorbills and puffins
