Photography in Iceland

Your days will be filled with sublime sights and (hopefully) your nights will be spent gazing at the majestic beauty of the Northern Lights.

Introduction

Iceland. It’s like nowhere else on earth. Exploring this frozen, rocky landscape is like being transported back to the beginnings of time, when the surface of the planet was being shaped by glaciers, geysers and volcanos.

During this 5-night photography holiday you’ll witness the most awe-inspiring corners of this epic country. Your days will be filled with sublime sights and, if the conditions are right, your nights will be spent gazing into the sky at the majestic beauty of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).

What Makes This Trip Special?

On this trip we’ll be avoiding the crowded attractions nearer to the capital and visiting the island’s wilder highlights out of reach of the coach tours. We’ll immerse ourselves in the spiky, alien landscape of Laufskálavarða, capture the giant ‘ice diamonds’ on the black sands of Jökulsárlón lagoon, don headlamps and crampons and clamber deep into the blue ice cave beneath the Vatnajökull glacier. And every evening we’ll have one eye on the sky in the hope of a magical display of the Aurora Borealis.

Why Photograph Here?

Whether it’s the awesome power of a waterfall or the surreal spectacle of steam rising out of the snowy ground, we'll be capturing some of nature's most incredible sights. We'll also photograph the wild and rugged South coast of the island, stopping along the road for spectacular photo opportunities and every night we'll keep an eye on the sky looking for the mystical aurora borealis. And of course, with an expert Frui tutor on hand the whole time to help you hone your photography skills, you're sure to come away with some stunning shots.
