Join Frui on our first limited edition masterclasses in the amazing state of Gujarat. With hundreds of tribal groups residing here for centuries, this tour gives you the opportunity to capture the various types of tribes, their lifestyles, colourful dresses, customs, and traditions.

Our unique connections give you the ability to see some of the highlights of this region and to be integrated with the locals in a way that allows you to take amazing photographs. Because this is a Frui masterclass you'll have a smaller group and the tutor will give more complex and technical tuition helping you to come back with extraordinary images.

Home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, beautiful hill stations, charming coastal regions and dazzling lakes, Gujarat is one of the most beautiful places in India. Gujarat also has a huge variety of tribes who continue to exist in traditional ways amidst a modernizing world. A big focus of our photography tour will be to capture the lives of these unique people as they go about their daily work, traditional handicrafts, and colourful festivals.

The hotel & resort has elegantly designed rooms to make your stay comfortable. Each room is a masterpiece with The hotel rooms are spacious nicely decorated reflecting local crafts to give a lovely ambience of comfort and relaxation.

Kutch Safari Resort

This sprawling resort sits atop a small hill facing the Rudramata reservoir. The rooms built and decorated in traditional Kutchi style are air-conditioned, clean and comfortable. Every cottage had a little sit-out facing the water with a ‘jhula’ and comfortable arm chairs.

Ambika Niwas Palace

A historical, museum-like palace filled with antique pieces. It makes you feel like you are in a different time.
The rooms were spacious and the bathrooms newly renovated. The Palace has an old-world charm with large wooden doors and beautiful ceilings. Peacocks roam the extensive gardens and beautiful grounds.

What You'll Learn on the Masterclass

The is a Frui Masterclass, and as such is only suitable for experience photographers. On this particular masterclass we aim to push a little bit harder through our tuition. Will do more in depth lessons using studio lighting equipment, video editing and advanced photo editing techniques.

Will also aim to take you with a smaller group of max 6 people. This will allow us to take you to more personal locations, to form better connections with your subjects and allow you to come away with more extraordinary images!

Our small group sizes mean that we can also tailor tuition, so you’ll always learn new things. Our focus is strongly on the creative side of photography, and tutors will encourage you to develop what is individual about your photographic style and approach.

Included in this holiday is a 1 hour portfolio review for images taken on the holiday. This will be done remotely over Skype at the time of your choosing once you had a chance to look through your images properly. This is uniquely part of a masterclass program.

What to Expect

One thing's for sure, on all our trips where possible you’ll always get you own en-suite room for no single supplement. We also always aim to strike the best balance between comfort and off-the-beaten track locations. Our holidays fall into three categories: Relaxed, Traveller or Explorer. So you can choose if you want nothing more strenuous than strolling around a hilltop village and lifting a glass to your lips, or a trip that takes you out of your comfort zone and into truly remote destinations, where on occasion you might be forced to forego the ice in your G&T. It’s up to you!
