Photography in Namibia

With natural and manmade wonders, Namibia is an African country where nature reigns supreme.

Introduction

With spectacular and bizarre scenes including Fish River Canyon, the blazing red dunes of Sossusvlei, the Skeleton Coast and the Spergebeit ghost town, Namibia is Africa at its most epic.

On this 12-night Explorer Holiday we will experience the streets of Swakopmund, the sublime tranquility of the desert dunes and vastness of the canyons and coastline.

A former colony of Germany, Namibia is also full of cultural and architectural surprises. This is an African country like no other. A place where castles tower from desert sands, where towns from a bygone era are literally turning to dust and where nature reigns supreme.

What makes this trip special?

It's a real African adventure. Driving through this vast and sparsely populated country in a specially modified truck, we'll constantly spot wild animals, encounter ever- changing landscapes, and swap stories over a cold beer around the campfire. It's a Frui favourite destination.

Why Photograph Here?

From effortlessly photogenic sites like the sand dunes and dead thorn trees of the deadvlei, to ghost towns, wrecks and giant landscapes just asking to be captured on camera, Namibia is the perfect place to get creative with a huge variety of unique and sometimes surreal subject matter.

Sesriem Campsite

There are only 2 places to stay inside the park gates (which open at sunrise) and this is one of them. Lovely big pitches offer plenty of room for a campfire and bbq. This is a true taste of Namibia's tranquil nature as wildlife wander by and amazing sunset views are on your doorstep. Bathrooms and showers are clean and professionally tended.

Europa Hof

Years of German ownership have left a charming yet slightly quirky impression on this hotel which is typical of Swakopmund. This is not only noticeable from the distinct architecture, but also in the hearty food. Just part of the crazy German world of Swakopmund!

Spitzekoppe Campsite

One of the most stunningly located campsites of the trip, we pitch our tents at the foot of huge red boulders with no buildings in sight. The campsite has well maintained 'dry' toilets and showers are available by the park entrance when we leave in the morning

Luderitz Nest Hotel

The award winning Lüderitz Nest Hotel is one of Namibia’s leading resorts located directly on Lüderitz Bay. The hotel has its own exclusive tidal beach with walk-on jetty and all rooms have a lovely sea views.

Klein-Aus Vista Desert Horse Inn

Klein-Aus Vista Desert is just as you would image with its beautiful African lodge look. The hotel, nestled in the rocky Aus Mountains, is famed for its lovely vistas and tranquil vibe.

Quiver Tree Campsite

This fantastic camp is right next to the surreal quiver tree 'forest'. The site has well maintained toilets and showers and there's an opportunity to watch cheetahs being fed in the evening.
