Beginners landscape painting Part 1

If you've enjoyed our drawing courses or, you are already feel quite confident about drawing, and would love to take those tentative steps towards trying your hand at painting then this is the course for you! Designed as a two part programme to enable you to produce and complete a landscape painting on the beautiful Hampstead Heath in London.  Using a limited colour palette of acrylic paints, you will carry out some warm up exercises learning how to block out shades and shapes, blend colours, then learn how to paint on canvas boards on a basic composition. Once you've got to grips with the essentials will set you up with your own painting, and guide you through the steps to create your own masterpiece. 

This is not designed as a stand-alone course. The learning process requires time to digest the information and come back for part 2 to continue the process


- 10:00am Arrive at Gospel Oak Overground station, a short walk on to the Heath
- Morning talk and set up in the cafe.
- 11:00 - 1pm Painting
- Short lunch break
- Final painting session until 3.30pm
- Review and feedback 3:30pm - 4:00pm

What you will learn?

- The basics of painting from scratch, no experience necessary
- How to mix colours

- How to how to build up the layers of a painting
- How to set up a painting and look at composition


The courses will be subject to good weather conditions, in the event of cancellation we will endeavor to organise a new date.

Part 1 will focus on mixing colours and blending, practicing different aspects of compostion and using canvas boards.

At the end of each day we will have a review our paintings over glass of something delicious!
